On the day of Pentecost, thousands were added to the church, and so we comb the scriptures wondering how such a day of new membership occurred? One thing is certain, it didn't happen magically. People sensed that barriers of race, culture, language, and class were being broken down, and that among the body of believers, there was a commitment to sharing power and ministry...an openness to experiencing one another's gifts. If you are looking at this web page, chances are you're doing so because you're looking for Christian community. I believe Arlington Hills Presbyterian has many of the qualities of the earliest church. This would also mean that we're not perfect and that daily, we need and believe in forgiveness and reconciliation. It means too that we take seriously the Great Commandment to love God and our neighbor. If you're seeking a community that strives to be a people of The Word...a community where you won't fall through the cracks and where your gifts will be appreciated and utilized...then "click" no more.
